The Column of Constantine
The Column of Constantine (Çemberlitaş Column) is a 1700-year-old monumental structure erected in 330 AD by Emperor Constantine I to commemorate the relocation of the Roman Empire's capital to Istanbul. The porphyry columns, brought from the Temple of Apollo in Rome, are located in the center of the Forum of Constantine (present-day Çemberlitaş) and are one of Istanbul's oldest and most important landmarks today.
