Topkapi Palace Museum

Topkapi Palace, built by Sultan Mehmed II between 1460-1478 after the conquest of Constantinople, served as the main residence and administrative headquarters of Ottoman Sultans for nearly 400 years. Located in Sultanahmet, Istanbul, this massive complex with four courtyards is now a prominent museum showcasing Ottoman artifacts, including the Harem and Sacred Relics.
 

• History: Constructed on the Sarayburnu promontory, it was the heart of the Ottoman Empire from the 15th to the mid-19th century before the court moved to Dolmabahçe Palace.
